Aurelio Torres

Mr. Torres is a passionate teacher who developed his love for music and the piano at an early age with the help of his first piano teacher. He now sees his opportunity to inspire children and adults and help them develop their own love for music.

Mr. Torres began his music training at the age of 6 years old playing the recorder. Soon after he started piano and mandolin lessons. While still a student, he participated in several recitals in his native Mexico City. At the age of 17, he was accepted at the Escuela Nacional de Música of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where he studied Piano, Harmony, Musicianship, Music Appreciation, History of Music, Analysis, Counterpoint, and Chamber Music.
Mr. Torres participated in an International Music Contests, both as participant and as teacher, in Mexico City, Mexico and Montevideo, Uruguay. He started working as a teacher at the age of 19 for the Yamaha Music School in Mexico City and a year later he became certified as a Yamaha Music Foundation Teacher for Piano and Musicianship. He continued working as a teacher, examiner as well as the piano accompanist of the Coro Cosmos. In 1997 Mr. Torres relocated to the Bay Area and continued working as accompanist and as private teacher. Mr. Torres continued his studies at the City College of San Francisco and at the University of California, Berkeley, where he received his Bachelor degree. Mr. Torres opened his private studio in 2003 as Scherzo Piano Studio and since then he has been serving the San Mateo Area.
